Anne Thomas and Amarpal Saran are leading experts in their respective fields of performance coaching and emotional intelligence. Just how do we know this and why are we writing to you?

We consider ourselves very fortunate indeed that we get to do something we love doing and have the opportunity of helping people discover more of their natural sense of self confidence and limitless potential. And, as we keep saying, we do this without the exhausting need for a 'rah-rah gung ho' approach to work and life.

So what do people learn about on these workshops?

Reflecting upon 10 years of experience, over 70% of the people we work with fall into two enneagram personality types ... what does this mean?

There are 9 Enneagram types and the UK is made up predominantly of two personality types. These are known as the 9 (Peacemaker) and the 6 (Loyalist/Team Player).

The '9' type will do anything to avoid conflict and can count on one hand the number of times they have expressed their full sense of anger in their lifetime. These people can have a tendency to supress feelings to such an extent that in the end one small incident sets off an uncontrollable rage; a rage they are often very frightened of and limits their potential.

The good news for these types is that, naturally, they have a hidden resevoir of 'Achiever' potential which they can access consistently without stress, conflict or any discomfort. That is of course when they have developed their emotional intelligence.

The '6' type is also known as the Loyalist. They make natural team players but because of their past experiences they have come to believe that the world is a dangerous place and they can't trust anyone.

Under pressure this lack of trust leads to relentless testing of the loyalty of their team members, over analysing situations and over questioning (yes but......yes but..... yes but....). Their motive is to ensure they have covered all of the 'angles' and know they can trust people to increase their personal sense of security. Without any emotional intelligence development this often rapidly creates a blame culture and impacts very negatively on performance and productivity capabilities.

At their best though they are courageous, highly supportive of the team effort, knowledgable, witty and naturally very hard working. An great assest to any team...
